Module 1: Equality vs. Equity
Resource: bing.com
1. Equality is giving everyone the same platform in which to succeed at a task. Equity understands that not everyone is starting from the same place, and without this recognition they may not be successful in completing the task. So in equity extra support is given to those who may need it to succeed.
2. Most of my teaching has been primary. My students did not always know when I was assessing them. Assessment in primary grades is a lot of observation and taking in of samples. I like building portfolios because often you have work from the beginning of the year (the students baseline) and then from the end of year. This gives me, as a teacher, the view of each individual students growth, and this is what is celebrated.
